Katilingban Sa Kalambuan Org., Inc. (KKI) is a non-stock and non-profit organization founded in 1995 to help poor and marginalized communities cope with growing socio-economic problems in Zamboanga City. For 25 years, KKI has significantly engaged with urban poor communities and successfully built three (3) housing projects namely Katilingban, Kalinaw and Kalambuan located in the west coast of Zamboanga City with a total of 594 families reached, given the most affordable housing for the locals. Subsequently, collaborated and engaged with different stakeholders on community organizing with various villages, schools, local government units and other government agencies, helping improve community’s lives.
Moreover, it has extensive work on children through its Children and Youth Development Program or CYDP. With this program, two residential facilities were established namely Tanglaw Buhay Center for Victims and Survivors of Trafficking and Akay Kalinga Center for Children in Street Situations. Both facilities are individually providing temporary shelter, education, psychosocial support and care and advocacy work.
In 2006 to present, KKI has been engaging on activities to end abuse, violence and exploitation on children in the communities, specifically extensively working on anti-corporal punishment and the evolving issues of anti-trafficking. Over time, it has amplified its work and penetrated the schools and villages to widely discussed the issues of physical and humiliating punishment and the eventually minimized violence, abuse and exploitation in communities. With these endeavors, KKI has also involved in the proliferation of this advocacy to further involve in the discussion to end violence on children through local, national and international platforms and enable children to contribute for the betterment of the children’s populace.
Since then KKI involved in different projects and implemented activities in Zamboanga City in partnership with schools and communities with the support of different NGO's and International NGO's. Below are list of projects implemented for the last 6 years.
