A work of art handcrafted by the women of Katilingban. Table runners (camino de mesa) and placemats (salvamanteles) are hand woven products out of abaca fiber* and cotton threads. The abaca fibers have been carefully chosen are used in their natural color or dyed in different colors. The women weave in Katilingban Training and Production Center (KTPC) in Sinunuc, Zamboanga City after they have done their chores at home. The products are best for wall design, accent, gift/token and souvenirs.
Oyster mushrooms have a savory and palatable taste. Oyster mushroom has abundant health nutrients. Its health benefits include antioxidant and anti-bacterial properties. Vitamin D is also present in oyster mushrooms for bones, since it provides us calcium. Oyster mushrooms provide protein, iron, potassium, and zinc which are good for our immune system and vitamins like B1, B2, C, folic acid, and niacin for our metabolism. These mushrooms are known for Beta-glucan, such compounds have anti-tumor properties.
Vermicast de Katilingban
Vermicast is an organic by-product of the composting activities of earthworms. Placing earthworms in a pile of compost allows them to make their way through the food and excrete vermicats. Vermicast is considered a soil conditioner and is often used as a natural fertilizer; it enriches the soil and helps to ensure that the plants receive all the nutrients they need to grow successfully.
Vermicast application:
Small pots 100 to 200 grams
Large pots 250 to 500 grams
Bed plots 400 to 500 grams per plants
Big plants 1-2 kgs
Fruit trees 5-10 kgs
Lawns 1-2 kgs per sq. meter
Note: the above amount can be applied 3 to 4 times per year and perennial plants. During these pandemic we and the government are encouraging people to plant different kinds of vegetables in their backyards. And with the used of organic fertilizer (vermicast) will improved the growth of plants and productivity.
